I think this information can be useful for you. If you plan to get
your website, here is one good free web hosting provider to choose -
000webhost.com

They provide hosting absolutely free, there is no catch. You get 250
MB of disk space and 100 GB bandwidth. They also have cPanel control
panel which is amazing. Moreover, there is no any kind of advertising
on your pages.

You can register here: http://www.000webhost.com/?id=17727

Just signed up for this! Can you please explain what I might have
fallen into? I don't really understand. In plain language, what am I
now to expect that will be horrible for me or viewers of webpages if
all I do is put up web pages and nothing more and viewers just look at
them and nothing more?

Like you i am a liitle bit surprised, because, i think it's possible
to sign for a free hosting *without* signing for anything in the
"Affiliate program" ...

Sorry, I can't help you with that. I was pointing out that the spammer
Mike earns $5 for anyone that clicks his affiliate link, and that he
also is violating the TOS of this web host.

One thing to be on the lookout for, is the host injecting code into your
pages you post there. I'm not about to try it myself. There ain't no
free lunch.

You seem to be posting from Optus Internet in AU. Does that ISP offer
free web spaces to subscribers? Many ISPs do...

Righto.

Thanks, will do.

Not like the space on offer at this free host or as simple in address
and not grabbed by greedy brothers!

You are correct, and that is noted in my first post in the thread. I
shortened up in my reply to Patricia.
Also, doesn't it sound from "once you will accumlate $100 every month"
that you only get your monthly check *if you hit $100 or more in that
month*? Sounds like they're saying that any month you don't do at lest
$100 worth, you get nothing. I read that as "accumulate during that
month"; I see nothing about rollover into the next month(s).

I'll agree with that. <g> For Mike to earn anything he has to get
twenty suck^H^H^H^Hsignups a month. A calendar month?

Thanks. I don't know anything about affiliate deals, but coming from that
perspective it sure looked weasely.

Probably whichever interpretation is to their advantage for the particular
case at hand.

you get everything for $0.00 - that is why we are called 000 webhost.

and ....if you don't sign-up for an affiliate account/contract, your
pages must be untouched compraed with your local page source.

No php with the free offer on my Optus plan. There *is* something
free though and that is a long bloody time to cool the heels on
the phone if the slightest thing goes wrong with anything, from
phones to internet... plus they give you only a miserable 10 MB.
But this is no big problem if you can persuade your friends to
give you their unused free spaces. You can piggy back an awful
lot of stuff that way. (if any friends refuse me, I have them
kidnapped, their credit cards commandeered and like that... they
know this and so I have no trouble.)

I have one commercial site with Optus (a paid commercial space)
and it is a Windows server. I have PHP there but I had to contact
them to configure various things. Not as simple as most other
servers, at least not to me.

Hi,

So on the referral system at 000, I'm not so sure he will receive credit. The DHTML quickly resolves to http://www.000webhost.com/, seemingly not holding any point information.

On 000webhost, the company has been hosting http://satterfield.890m.com/ and I certainly have no complaints. It is free, there are no popups, there are no banner pages. I've placed a "non-affiliate" link on my site to advertise for them -- I don't expect to be making $5 for each referral. There have been moments of downtime, once lasting for two days but it was coincidental with a severe outage at Global Crossing, so I don't know if it was related. The email response is FANTASTIC! I cannot over emphasize customer service. I am not able to get SSI working, but it may be an issue in my coding. FTP upload is available for free. Great company, not sure what the business model includes.

Another great free site is Google. Google has been hosting http://mark.a.satterfield.googlepages.com/ for me, and I have no real complaints other than the long url. Not sure but there may be some options on the URL. However, FTP is not available, which is a severe limitation.

One more company that offers low cost hosting is doteasy. I have used the company as an IPP for quite a few web sites since 2000, including http://www.marksatterfield.com/ for the last year. Cost is $25 for one year including the FQDN. FTP is available. SPAM is horrible, I prefer to use other email sites for mail services.
