After a random number of uses on a page, all javascript stops working

I'm using the treeview to display search results to users in a
categorized format. After a random number of searches, all javascript
will stop working on the web page after the user clicks on a link in
the treeview (link is opened in a new window). When the user returns
to the search window, the tree doesn't work and neither does any of
the buttons on the web page. Pressing the refresh button or the back
button any number of times doesn't help. Trying to go to a different
web site doesn't work either. The only solution so far is to close
the web browser and re-login to the web site.

Script debugging and the 'display notification of every script error'
is turned on, but no messages are received.

Any suggestions on how to find what is stopping IE 6 from working?
Or, how to reset/restart the javascript engine in the browser?

Did you ever find a solution or work around for this problem. It seems that the project I'm working on exhibits the same strange behavior.
