Hi there,
I'm pleased to announce that PyKota v1.15 is out.
PyKota is an entirely Python written, GNU GPLed, centralized, full
featured, internationalized, and easily extensible, print quota and
accounting solution for CUPS and LPRng under Unix like systems like
GNU/Linux.
This release includes many improvements :
- External policy can be used to auto-add unknown users
and any other interesting things you may want to do. WARNING :
You can't auto-add printers for now. They have to be created
manually before. Look at sample configuration file for examples.
- Job history can be disabled if needed.
This feature may be useful for people who use the LDAP backend
and don't want their LDAP tree to grow out of control.
- Performance bottleneck with LDAP solved.
- Caching mechanism for all database queries.
- Documentation improved.
- CGI script now tries to restrict view when the
REMOTE_USER environment variable is set. This allows people to
protect its use with .htaccess files. When unprotected, or if
REMOTE_USER is 'root', then unrestricted access is granted.
NB : REMOTE_USER is automatically set by the web server (e.g.
Apache) when a page with restricted access is viewed.
- Command line tools now accept multiple printer
names or wildcards, separated with commas.
- Problem with Python 2.3 fixed. Needs some definitive
modification.
- Better detection of LPRng.
- Outputs a warning if printing system is unknown.
- Bug fix in SQL code.
