Randomly came across an invite for a tech event by a bank. Anyone been to an event like this before? How has your experience been? Are they worth spending my weekend on them?

Yeah, I used to think fintech was all about startups too, but banks are seriously stepping up their tech game now. They’re not just handling transactions—they’re building AI models, scaling massive databases, and even working on regulatory tech.
Actually, there’s a tech meetup happening in Chennai soon—TechXpresso by IDFC FIRST Bank. They’re bringing in speakers like Bharani Subramaniam (Thoughtworks CTO) to talk about Agentic AI and Srini Srinivasan (Aerospike Founder) on scaling NoSQL. Even Kalaranjani Mahavir from RBI is speaking about how they use tech in governance.
Feels like banks are actively pushing tech innovation now, not just keeping up. I’d say if the team and projects are solid, working in bank tech could be a pretty interesting move.
