Hi,
I was just curious to know if how many c++ programmers here have learned
logo when they were in grade school.

Any random thoughts are also welcome.

No I didn't. I was never taught programming at school.

Hello,

Logo was after my time, but I remember when it was introduced.
It had some very nice ideas for teaching algorithms and patterns.
Graphics/games people usually come up with something similar at
some point. Those of us who had other ideas for the computer
probably missed the way Logo taught things.

Did you have the Logo that had a robot or the later version
that was graphics based on a computer?

I was active in setting up the first computer club and later
curriculum for my high school. That was back in the days of
BASIC and the computer was a timeshare system and you used a
line printer with a 300/110 baud MODEM to call in. My first
exposure was to an IAMSI 8080 at a friends house. It also
helped that WGN TV in Chicago had a college level course on
Saturday mornings that taught the basics of computers through
a mythical computer to do really simple math. They used
assembly language.

P.S. The first machine in our schools was a Hewlett-Packard
2000/Access Timeshare BASIC system at the local Area Education
Agency. All the schools (elementary through high school) had
one terminal each and no one that knew how to use them. Three
years later a couple Apple ][+ machines were added. At that
point students took more of an interest since the Apple seemed
to do more and allow people to touch it.

The graphics based on a computer, with the friendly turtle in the middle
of it.
