Best *free* WYSIWYG HTML editor(s)

V

Vinayak

Hi

I use Mozilla 1.7.12 and Win XPP

I've been using Mozilla for long and so would like to stick to Mozilla
as my web browser and mail client

I'm looking for a *free* WYSIWYG HTML editor

I have tried to use Nvu http://www.nvu.com/ along with Mozilla but had
some problems (NOT sure if they are just because of Nvu).

Since these memory related issues started just after I used Nvu, I
stopped using Nvu and wish to migrate to some other *free* WYSIWYG HTML
editor

Any suggestions / pointers would be most welcome

p.s. - I'm temporarily using "composer", the HTML editor that comes
with Mozilla, but they have stopped development with "Composer" and I'd
like to have a better / more upto date WYSIWYG HTML editor

Best regards
and
Thanks in advance

Actually,

WYSIWYG is lagging tremendously in HTML. They do not satisfy the
developer's taste. You can notice professional websites do not even
use Frontpage or Dreamweaver. (Not even msn.com). There should be an
opensource project for WYSIWYG html program

When time permits, I advice you to set things aside and make the upgrade to
Firefox/Thunderbird. Same software, only better (more modern and reliable).
I know someone who still uses Netscape. The fear of change and the bravery
that it takes to overcome it are worth pondering.

Try to steer away from your desire to compose pages in that form. There are
many Open Source CMS projects out there.

Okay, so far so good, but why not mention content management systems?

There are a few out there already, I'm fairly sure.

actually i'm beginning to wonder if i should also kill posts from google
groups like others are doing

Unfortunately, the reading habits of other users will not be affected by a
choice to killfile posts from Google Groups. This can result in fragmented
threads, missing information, et cetera et cetera.

How to post from Google:

How do I quote correctly in Usenet? - Quoting and Answering

You can rarely educate people who only attend the newsgroups once or twice
using an interface that discourages quoting.

Very graceful list of links by the way... well-built!

Best wishes,

Roy

And you *would* obey, only it's a very long walk to find any that you
haven't killed already.

"Better" is in the eye of the beholder.

I don't agree with your assessment, not by a long shot. I've used the
moz suite since about milestone M10 (many years ago, way before NS6
even). When I heard they were discontinuing it in favor of separate
components, I cringed, but tried the combo anyway.

I thought it severely lacking by comparison. While there isn't so much
different in TB, FF took away features that I rely heavily on,
particularly related to keyboard navigation and quick access to tools,
like cookie manager and tab history. FF is just way too mouse-dependent.
I find it quite clumsy to use.

Next time you make this FF/TB recommendation, you might want to qualify
it a bit.
