What is a good book to purchase that will give me a good foundation on
learning C? I currently have Teach Yourself C. By Herbert Schildt.

That's precisely the wrong author you've picked.
I suggest against using any of his books, unless
you want an exercise in debugging.

The C Programming Language, 2nd edition, by
Dennis Ritchie and Brian Kernighan is one book
you should buy. For the rest,
http://www.accu.org/ has a few recommendations.

The links in my sig below are also recommended reading.
Don't forget to read the FAQ.

Regards,
Jonathan.

I bought a book by Schildt, the first response I got from this NG when I
asked
on whether this was wise

"You are now the proud owner of BullShildt"

hehe

I Have still found his book helpful though, even if it does contain some
errors/
misleading information.
