c++ on linux

Mina Doroudi

It is my first time trying C++...
I just tried to install a file and it says: g++-3.1.1: command not found
Where can I get teh c++ installing stuff, and what are they?
I'm browsing through www.cplusplus.com but I don't see any thing.

Thanks,

Mina

You're way off-topic for comp.lang.c++. This newsgroup is for discussing
the C++ language as defined by the Standard. It is not about how to get a
C++ compiler.

You have to ask this somewhere that is topical for your operating system
(possibly the specific distro of Linux if that's what you happen to be
using).

Try asking at gnu.gcc.help.

Mina,

If you are using a distro based on redhat or debian, there will be
packages on the distribution CDs which will contain the compiler you are
looking for. In the event you are in a corporate environment where the
distro cds aren't available, you can go to http://gcc.gnu.org/ & have a look
