A friend of mine claims that C++ is pronounced "C Plus." Am I right for
thinking he's an idiot?

I have never heard it pronounced that way... but I don't know what goes on
in the inner circles of power... didn't he mean "C sharp"?

I've heard it pronounced a few different ways. People try anthing
because in a general conversation C++ is a mouthfull. If he is saying
that "C Plus" is the way it should be pronounce then he is an idiot :)

No, he's not an idiot. He's just a brief guy. The language is called
"See plus plus", and even the macro it has defined is __cplusplus, so
there should be no double reading except by those who know nothing about
it, I guess.

True. I suppose it could be pronounced as "See Pee-Pee" too...

My colleagues and I only resort to that to refer to the compilation units
on MS Windows. On other platforms those are "See Ex Ex [files]". :-]

See Pee-Pee? Pull-Up-Pants. Guess that would be CPP-PUP. I suppose
afterwards the guy should get a pat on the head, be told hes a good boy,
and given a buscuit. I hear some programmers like that.
