Can I create a complex web control with non-html element with dotnet?

I am design a web form to define working stream that need
add, delete and edit nodes in a working stream at the
browser side. Previously I did it by JavaApplet. Can I
create a complex operatable element by Web user defined
controls in ASP.NET?

Any sugguestion is appreciated.
