check if disk is corrupt

Hello,
is there any way i can know if the disk is corrupt using either C or C+
+, under both windows or linux,

By calling something platform and filesystem specific with system().
Try a platform specific group for the gory details.

OP: Maybe, head on over to gnu.org and search for "S.M.A.R.T.". Seems I saw
something in the "hdparm" docs about disk failures. Also, don't forget to
check the drive mfg site for utilities. File system corruption is a whole
new ballgame! <G>
