My apologies for asking a question that's no doubt been asked a skillion
times before. I've dejagoogled. The problem is that "com" gets too many
hits, like "yahoo.com".
Can someone point me toward some software for automating the creation of COM
dll's or servers, and interfaces? How about OPC?
I have a device for which I must expose an API. One vendor who will use the
API to integrate their software package with our device has suggested using
OPC. That's a standard built on top of COM. I bought a book, _Essential
COM_. The learning curve would appear to be full of twisty passages, all
the same. I don't have the time nor inclination to learn how COM works at
the bit level.
I would like to find a software package or cookbook for implementing COM
interfaces. If it could do OPC, that would be great. Dependability has to
be very high. If it is reasonably priced, that's good. If it's open
source, that's real good.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
