converting Word to MediaWiki

I'm trying to convert our documentation over to the Wikipedia format
(MediaWiki), and about ready to give up on the Perl-based method I found
(because Perl just sucks, as all good Python hackers know!). Perl
really IS a write-only language.

rather than mess with Word formats directly, I had converted the Word
files to HTML first, then ran HTML::WikiConverter.

SO: is there anything out there in Python that can translate HTML to
popular Wiki formats?

I disagree. Perl has saved my butt more times than I care to count.
Python certainly has its advantages, but I won't be giving up Perl any
time soon.

it's nice that everyone wants to argue about Perl, but what about the
original question: does anyone know of a Python HTML - Wiki conversion
