Has anyone seen or know if anyone has done this? I think that ASP would be a
great tool to do this with but I am curious if anyone has tried it and found
it to be too hard or too burdensome to follow through with?

One of the main reasons that this isn't common, is A), the bandwidth
required for such a site can be incredible, and hosting on a W2K server is
typically significantly more expensive than on a *nix box. (This changed a
bit when Rackshack recently started offered W2K3 servers. B) .htaccess is
critical, and using a server-side solution for protecting your images on an
IIS server would be a killer on the processor. C) I don't think anyone has
ever wasted his time writing a trade script in VBS or JS. Until Microsoft
comes out with Microsoft Porn Server.NET or something like that, I think you
ought to stay with *nix and write all your TGP and trade scripts in PHP or,
better, C.

No pardon needed I myself did not know what it is abbreviated for until
recently. It stands for Thumbnail Gallery Post - Used in the adult world
primarily for trading links to adult websites.

That is correct, well 90% of the time that is.

Hope that doesn't offend you.

Not at all. I prefer to know. A search for the term returns an
illuminating selection of pages.

To answer the question in your O/P: ASP can do this, but needs a little help
from a server-side component or two. Unless I have completely misunderstood
you, here's an example (not porn): http://jennylind.co.uk/gallery3.asp
Modem users beware, I made this page almost two years ago - it has got quite
big now and needs trimming.

Thanks, but I was thinking of using ASP as the backend submitter process.
The user logs in submits the info into the DB through an ASP page(s). Then
using ASP to automatically generate new HTM or HTML pages based on the new
info. Since only 1 to 2 small thumbnails are actually kept on the TGP side
for advertising the link mainly security of the pics is not an issue and if
so Java can handle that on the client side with Directory Browsing disabled.
Since ASP would only be handling connections to about 20 to 40 users not
including the webmaster I thought that it would be a decent way to go to
create the galleries and manage them?

One important note, the actual page containing the full gallery is
maintained on the submitters server and only links are generated on the TGP
server.

My thoughts.

Sure will this afternoon, sorry about the fake reply but I have just started
to get a grip on the 300 plus virus emails with the D@MN MS Security
Bulletin with the executable attached. I am now running 4 intercept
programs, one at the server level to scan for attached viruses, another at
the server level to block domains that are sending the infected emails, one
at the workstation level to scan all email that I open, and another at the
workstation level that scans for spam which is another side affect of the
virus.

In case anyone wonders I did run a test in this newsgroup to verify it was
coming from here. I created a virgin email account on Yahoo then used it to
post with into this newsgroup only and within 30 minutes my new Yahoo
account started receiving virus emails.

That's why I now hide my email address.
