crystal reports and java

Hello

I would like to use crystal reports tools in our java application
to genereate reports but there is one condition my application must work
on unix platforms. is it posible? Do i need Report Application Server to
make report in java (I've read RAS only work on Windows)? Can I do this
without Windows.
