I dont think this question belongs in this group but any help would be
appreciated...

I am new to CSS and I want to have a fixed width web page that covers
the entire area on the browser window. Something like http://maps.google.com

How can I accomplish that?

just set the body style's with and height to 100%.

Anyway, you probably want comp.infosystems.www.authoring.stylesheets for
asking about CSS.
