customize UI generated by binding in visual studio

Hi All,
This is in .net 2.0 or .net 3.5. VS 2008.

in design time when I bind a control to a data source, VS by default
genarates a UI.
I want to have more control over the UI and be able to customize the
generated UI.

Is this possible ?can some one please point me to some documetation/
sample on it please.
