DataPager with other DataBound Controls

I am trying to use the asp.net 3.5 DataPager with the AJAX 3.0.11119.0
ReorderList databound control with a List<> as datasource. I have created a
custom control derived from ReorderList and implemented the
IPageableItemContainer. But the DataPager still dosent get displayed. I am
stuck.
Does the DataPager only works only with ListView or any other databound
control that implements IPageableItemContainer?
Does Microsoft plans to implement the dataPager for other controls in the
full release of Visual Studio 2008.
