Disable 'windows key'

P

Hi

Ive made a simple game for my 10 month old son. I noticed that (having
watched daddy) he loved to bash the keyboard whenever possible. So the
game simply displays various pictures of animals, accompanied by the
animal sound and printed name, whenever any keys are bashed 3 times. He
loves it. However, frantic bashing tends to mean that the 'windows key'
invariably gets hit thus causing the game to drop to desktop.

I wonder if there might be a way of disabling these keys within my
program. I realise there is a way of disabling them in the windows
registry, but i do actually use it for other things (namely winKey+e to
explore) so would prefer not having to do that.

OS: Win XP

Paul

ps. if anyone has little 'uns and would like a copy of the source just
drop me a line.

I found out that installing the LiteStep alternative for windows
taskbar actually has the sideeffect of disabling the windows key...
(But I don't know how inclined you are to tinker with your system to
that degree. At least it offers a clean uninstall)

winKey+e still works after installing LiteStep.

Don't have a working URL at hand so try googling for it...

But a direct solution for your problem, no I don't have that.

cheers,

IHateThisKey will do this globally:

http://www.bytegems.com/ihatethiskey.shtml

The free edition blocks the Windows key, and the paid one ($10) lets you
control all kinds of keys in quite flexible ways. You can still use the
Windows key as a modifier (as in Windows+E for Explorer).

No affiliation other than as a happy customer.

But can it change "Fn" key mapping?
