Is there a way of preventing a user from using the select all and copy
functions in the edit menu and from using the shortcut keys for these
commands?
Im able to stop them from right-clicking and selecting save target as/save
picture as, but how is the edit menu access prohibited, or selected parts of
it prohibited?

Thanks in advance,
Gaz

no

no you're not
and selecting save target as/save picture as,

nope, you cant do that either. you're fooling yourself if you think
its possible. stop trying to be a control freak.

create your own browser and try to convince everyone to use it. good
luck. in case you haven't noticed browsers are giving more control to
their users because of people like you trying to remove it.

Take your page offline, and no one will be able to steal it

No you aren't. You might be able to interfer with the process under some
circumstances, but its easily bypassable and only serves to annoy.

What's with you people? I'm able to interfere with the process by writing
simple javascript to cause a dialog to come up when they want to save the
pictures that im not letting them.

Chill people, I was only asking and if I want to share photos but not let
people copy them, what's wrong with that? Something called copyright if im
not mistaken.

Get used to the fact that you cannot control someone elses system. Not
their computer, browser or their printer or email client. The only
thing you can do is watermark your precious pictures, and if you
encounter their use in violation of your terms, cry like a baby. As
far as I can tell, 99% of people wanting to restrict downloading ,
viewing, copying or distributing don't have anything worth restricting
anyway.

Its a very typical question asked, and therefore is an easy target.

You can bypass your click routine by turning off javascript.

Ah well, I can do as much as I can then. Cheers anyway.)

As I said - that won't stop anyone.

Nothing is wrong with copyright. I like copyright. You're just fooling
yourself if you think there is a technological way to *enforce* it over the
web.

No, there isn't, and that's a really great thing.

No, you can't; you can annoy users by putting in cheesy, stupid scripts
that attempt to accomplish this and actually work in a limited subset of
viewing situations, but fail completely in many others.

It's people like you that cause some Web users to disable JavaScript in
their browsers. But fortunately, some better browsers like Mozilla have
configuration options to disable some of the more annoying uses of
JavaScript without disabling it completely. Hopefully, there will be a
version eventually that lets the user ignore scripts that attempt to
disable right-clicking or other browser features.

once the image is displayed the image is already on the visitors
computer to do with what they will. your right-click script just
screams "clueless newbie". how are you going to stop someone from
left-clicking and dragging the image into their filesys/graphics
program/etc etc etc. totally disable the mouse?
Chill people, I was only asking and if I want to share photos but not let

it is not possible to prevent that. copying is how the internet works.
you send copies of everything to your visitors. watermark you precious
images or don't put them on the net. simple.
, what's wrong with that? Something called copyright if im

what if i want to navigate your site? what has that got to do with copyright?
what if i want to reload the page? what has that got to do with copyright?
what if i want your site in full screen mode? what has that got to do with copyright?
what if i want to bookmark your site? what has that got to do with copyright?
what if i want to copy the address? what has that got to do with copyright?
what if i want to validate your source? what has that got to do with copyright?
what if i want detailed information of the page? what has that got to do with copyright?
what if i want to send someone a link of your page via email? what has that got to do with copyright?
what if i want your page in a new window? what has that got to do with copyright?
what if i want to view your source to work out how you did something? what has that got to do with copyright?

You are targeting the wrong button with that no right click script.
I always us my left button, as in click, drag/drop into my image editor.

Cheers
Richard.

You should realize that if your picture is displayed on the user's
browser, it has necessarily been downloaded onto their PC. They already
have it! Any tricks you might add won't affect anything.
