Financial libraries in C?

C

Love C. Always have.

Wondering if there are any libraries available in C for doing
quantitative financial operations? If free, it will be great. If not,
that is ok too! Lot of C++ stuff exists for this, but usually people
tend to make it WAY too complex than necessary (even for a usage
perspective).

Am not sure if this question is suited for this list. But I could not
find any other forum for the same. My apologies if the question is not
suited.

Thanks in advance to all the gurus who may know the answer.

This is not a list to ask about C libraries that do <thing>. We
generally discuss K&R1 C, ANSI and ISO C, and that's what's topical.

Which newsgroup would be a suitable place to ask about C libraries
that do <thing>.?

Thanks.

Which newsgroup would be a suitable place to ask about C libraries
that do <thing>.?

I am not sure about that myself. In the past I have seen discussions
on this list that are about various things that are not strictly "C".
For example, cryptographic hashing and so on. Hence I thought I would
ask the gurus on this list.

I guess if there are enough people who are interested in this
discussion, it will go on, otherwise, this thread will just die its
natural death.

If someone knows any such libraries, please do respond. Respond to
just me if you like. I will truly appreciate help.

This is not the right newsgroup to ask about newsgroups that <thing>
is on-topic.
More seriously, I don't know, and I don't think such newsgroup exists.

GREAT.

So by your own admission, there is no better place to ask. The OP
chooses this group as the nearest neighbor, but you still want to
squeeze him off the sidewalk into the ditch so that you can walk along
with your arms stretched out.

GREAT. Thank you for your valuable contribution to human society.

To the OP: this is a perfectly appropriate place for your question. As
should be obvious from his replies above, "VIP Star" is a troll who
seeks to disrupt this newsgroup. Many people have asked for library
recommendations here, and most of them have got satisfactory answers.

A quick search through the packages in Debian suggests that the only
serious financial library in town is QuantLib, which unfortunately is in
C++, so unless someone else knows of a good C library it might be that
there just isn't one available.

Have you tried google?

Have you tried google?

Yes I did and did not find anything useful. Hence the question to the
list.

lol... Thank you Antonius.
I am sure that new posters like me can easily get turned off by such
VIP tactics.

Thankfully, I dont give a damn to such folks :) [they usually tend to
exist on all newsgroups and my guess is that they are unhappy with
their personal lives and often use these newsgroups as a means to
express themselves :)]
Fortunately, they do not own usenet (nice!).

Well... Thank you all for responding. Looks like there may not be such
a thing for me :-( Perhaps onto the C++ path.

Twink is a known troll on c.l.c. I suggest you try
comp.programming, which is quite relaxed about topicality.

Complex software is complex to use. I don't see how you could make it
any easier.

Your question is best suited to google.
Thanks in advance to all the gurus who may know the answer.

There are three financial libraries worthy of consideration. All are
written in C++:
http://finance.bi.no/~bernt/gcc_prog/recipes/
http://sourceforge.net/projects/quantlib/
http://sourceforge.net/projects/quantlib/

All of them are easy to use.

Perhaps you have a very simple financial requirement. If so, you
could consider examination of the Open Office source, which has some C
financial functions.

Because they are not such prissy little idiots as you as a general rule.

His question was directed at C programmers and this newsgroup is about
C. It is perfectly reasonable to think that someone here might be able
to help him.
