Get from Sidebar the URL from Main-Window

hi,

How can i get from Sidebar (Firefox, IE) the URL from Main window.

The only one method that i found is to open a new window as parent from
main-window and after get the url to close it self.

But this method is not pretty good.

Have someone an better solution ?
