Help on setting up ASP project

RJN

Hi

I'm new to ASP development. I want to set up a development environment
for the team. I want to create ASP project in one server and make that
as the master server. Developers will connect to this server

These are the steps followed in creating new project on the server:

1.Open Visual Interdev
2.New Project
3.In Step 1: Specified "localhost"
4.Step2: "Create a new web application" and then continued till step 4
to create out the web application.

Now in the developer machines, I followed these steps
1.Open Visual Interdev
2.New Project
3.In Step 1: Specified the remote server name
4.Step2: selected "Connect to an existing web application" and selected
the application created on the master server

Now this prompts for the Windows NT user name and password. In spite of
entering the correct password, it keeps on prompting for the password
and does not go ahead from here.
I have no idea how to go ahead from here or if there is any mistake in
the steps I'm following.

(I tried this but didn't work either.
In Tools-> Options->Projects->web proxy settings.
Clicked to clear the "Use system settings" check box, and then checked
the "Do not use proxy settings for local (intranet) addresses" check
box)

I also want to integrate the asp pages on the master web server with VSS
which will be on a different machine. Intent is whenever the developers
change the pages on their local machines, the change will be reflected
on the master server and when they check in the page it should be
reflected on the VSS server too.

Can anybody help on this please

Regards

RJN

I can't remember the specific ins and outs of the process but after going
through a similar process a few months ago I found it easier to run VSS on
the web server. I vaguely recall a workaround for accessing a shared VSS
installation but I got the impression that sort of setup is more exception
than rule.
