We have a winforms client accesing web services. The
proxy setting in IE 6.0 is set to "Automatically detect
setting" on the client. Web service call from the client
goes through the HTTP proxy server. Calling the
webservice from winforms client returns this error "The
underlying connection was closed: The remote name could
not be resolved.". If service is called through IE web
service test page then it works fine. Since we have a
number of clients who have different proxy server, we
cannot hard code the proxy server name in the web service
call before calling the web service. Is there a way to
automatically detect the proxy server in .net, similar to
what IE does?
