IIS 6.0 host header name question

P

Pedro Gonçalves

Hi,

I've 2 web sites configured in IIS 6.0.

The 1st uses port 80 for http and port 443 for https. In this web site I've
a default web site, and several application sites that uses https like OWA.

The 2nd has an institutional web site of my company that has a public area
and a private area. This web site uses http on port 80 and have configured
the host header name to redirect to this web site the appropriated urls.

This was ok until I decided that some virtual directories of this 2nd web
site should use https. Then I realized that it is not possible to redirect
https to that vitual directories because the https port 443 is already used
by the first web site.

My question is, how can I configure my 2nd web site the way I want it to work?

Regards,
Pedro Gonçalves

Hello,

You have to setup another IP address on the server and assign your 2nd Web
site to that IP address. Then you can use the SSL on that Web site. Host
headers do not work with SSL. I made a complaint to a Microsoft IIS
developer on that point.

Thanks,
Bob
