Has anybody had any success determining the location of a device under
J2ME (MIDP 2.0)? JSR 179 (http://www.jcp.org/en/jsr/detail?id=179) is
supported by few phones (if any). All we need to know is the country,
nothing more accurate than that. On the .net devices we can query the
Mobile Country Code (MMC) from the SIM, but this is seemingly unavailable
from J2ME.
Does anybody know of any third-party solutions or clever tricks to get an
approximate position for a phone (preferably without the phone having to
send an SMS message)?
Thanks,
Dan.
