Database Administrator
The Business Intelligence team at Cox Communictions in Phoenix is
seeking a Database Administrator who has experience with Data
Architecture and Data Modeling. Here are the details:
PURPOSE:
The purpose of the Database Administrator position is:
Performs system support activities including maintenance or creation
of: data models, processing routines or procedures and database
structures.
Provides technical support for databases when in production.
Provides enhancements to databases as required.
Designs and develops logical data models for reporting.
Assists in the development of processes, procedures, and establishing
accurate documentation for Cox Arizona's business data.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:
Produce relational storage solutions that fulfill requested
functionality by following the Development Lifecycle.
Prepares detailed data dictionary and relational diagrams to
illustrate sequence of steps that represent business logic.
Analyzes and establishes indexes and data constraints.
Collaborates with Business Analyst to obtain and analyze project
specifications and data needs.
Analyze and transform business requirements into logical data models.
Validate logical data models with business subject matter experts.
Map Logical models to Physical data.
Define and enforce database and modeling techniques, standards and
conventions.
Stay up to date with the latest industry trends in modeling for data
warehousing.
Manage and administer Erwin models and create/manage metadata
repository
Work with the ETL developers to ensure data integration and acceptable
performance of loads and queries.
Maintain databases in production, development and test environments.
Assists in the maintenance of servers, storage and backup systems
Develops documents and presents project implementation plans.
Appropriately and effectively communicates project status to all
necessary parties. Actively utilizes project and time management
skills to complete projects within specified timeframes.
Creates weekly status reports of assigned project status, system
events and evaluations.
Required Experience:
A Database Administrator must demonstrate 90 percent proficiency in
the areas of competency for following areas of competency:
2+ years DBA Experience with Microsoft SQL Server
1+ years Data Architecture experience.
Logical Data Modeling
Relation Database Design
SQL Server
Must be proficient in T-SQL.
DBA Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or 2005
A Database Administrator must demonstrate knowledge of and be capable
of becoming proficient in the following areas of competency:
Analytical Design
Application Development
Reporting Services or Business Objects.
Other:
Ability to communicate effectively.
Problem Solving ability
Ability to manage several tasks concurrently
Customer Focus
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to meet deadlines
Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Information
Systems or related field or equivalent work experience.
