Losing Session state in Application_Error

I have an error handling page that is called by Global.ASAX in the
Application_Error handler. When I test Session.Count in Application_Error,
it has a count of 2 and I can access the two session variables. When
Global.ASAX calls Server.Transfer to transfer to the error handling page,
the Session.ID is still the same as it was in Global.ASAX, but mysteriously,
the Session.Count is now 0 and I can not access the session variables.

Anyone have any suggestions?
