Maintaining values of password fields across callbacks

I have an UpdatePanel that needs to maintain the value of several TextBoxes
with TextMode=Password. Since the browser clears all password fields
client-side, I obviously need to use JavaScript to do this. Can someone help
me? Thanks.

The browser is IE7, and the password fields are cleared by the browser,
there is no code that I use to clear them. I know that it is only the
password fields that this is happening to because the UpdatePanel contains
password and non-password fields, but only the password fields are cleared.
I have seen many other websites in which the password fields get cleared
after a submit button is clicked, so I am pretty sure it's not just me. If I
make them regular textboxes, then I obviously won't have this problem, but
we do make certain fields password fields for a reason. Any ideas? Thanks.
