max number of attributes on an element

Hi,

I know there is no theoretical limit, but say I have 100 attributes on one
element, is any DOM or XSLT processor going to have a problem with that?
we'll assume that it doesn't have to be viewed/edited by a human.

I would have thought you'd need to get into thousands before hitting
performance problems.
