MIDlet game programming project

C

Chris Smith

I have written a MIDlet (mobile phone) 2D tile-based fantasy role
playing game, and have now released the code on SourceForge. I almost
feel like this is a reprise of the "Hey let's make a game" thread from
some time back. The game was originally demo code for a JUG
presentation I gave on J2ME programming; but at the request of a sister
of mine (ah, the things we do for family!), I've now spent quite a bit
of effort on it and am interested in how far it can go. If you're
looking for a way to practice J2ME skills or enjoy game programming,
this may be of interest to you.

You can play the existing game by pointing an MIDP 2.0 capable mobile
phone (or emulator, such as Sun's WTK 2.x) to the JAD file at
http://cdsmith.twu.net/j2me/AutumnsRealm.jad. The project is BSD-
licensed, which means I'm inviting you to:

1. Look at the source code as an example for any code you're writing.
2. Use the source code (even as a basis for your own commercial code)
3. Play the game for free and Let me know if it doesn't work.
4. Join the project and contribute to the code (or game design or
graphics or whatever).

The project web page is at http://autrealm.sourceforge.net. If you
click the "Project" link on the right, you can join mailing lists,
contribute patches or bug reports, and grab the source code from the
Subversion repository.

Hope someone is interested,
