Java Architect with MarkLogic

Iteresting.

"Mark Logic provides information access and delivery solutions that
accelerate the creation of content applications. Customers across a
range of industries rely on Mark Logic to make them more agile —
repurposing content, creating new products faster and delivering content
through multiple channels.

MarkLogic Server, the industry's leading XML Server, includes a unique
set of capabilities to store, manage, enrich, search, navigate, and
dynamically deliver content. Designed and optimized for handling XML
content, MarkLogic Server is simply unmatched in its ability to maximize
your information assets, at the highest levels of performance and
scalability."

Anyone actually use this? It sounds like a DBMS which spits out XML
instead of SQL. It's got some load balancing software on it too. I'm
curious whether this sort of thing actually fills a specific need or is
just yet-another-web-container like Flex or ColdFusion or JEE.

It sounds as a XML database.

There are a few of those.

If you want to play with one the try one of:
http://xml.apache.org/xindice/
http://exist.sourceforge.net/

Since there are products then there must be a market.

But I suspect that it is a relative small market. I have
never heard about a place where they are used in production.
