.Net Framework 2.0

Should I install .NET framework 2.0 on my production web server, I need to
use some of its new features? It seeems stable enough to run in a production
environment. When the final version is release will i be able to upgrade it
or do i have to reinstall windows? What are some other problems that this
might cause?

that's absolutely crazy! for want of a better word.

a production environment is sacred ground. until you know exactly how well
the software will behave, it should not make it into production. that's what
testing environments are for. nuff said.

Apart from other considerations, you should check the license agreement
which forbids production use:

"there is no "Go Live" license for this beta release, so your use of this
beta is limited to testing and evaluation only."

The license doesn't allow you to do that. It's also in BETA and it's pretty
much universally accepted (from everyone I talk to) that doing anything to
the production server that doesn't need to be done, particularly running
Betas and alphas on them, is suicide.

You don't want to use it in production. It's a BETA.

It doesn't have new features. It's a BETA. It has proposed new features
which may or may not work today, and which may or may not wind up in the
eventual product.

If you "need some of the new features", and if you can't wait until next
year, then you need to start thinking of some way to get the "new
features" - Beta 1 isn't it.

From what I hear form Microsoft, this is now in beta 1 and is much more
stable than the previous versions, which were not even beta, all the
features in the beta will make it to the final version (99.9% sure of this)

One person from MS even suggested that you could even use on your production
env as the .NET framework works well side by side, I am going to backup my
laptop and try this. offcourse, you should never put any beta software on
your production env, but...... some experienced people can ovoid the pit
falls, I have been stung once for running beta on a production env, but
that's once in 10years.

remember, beta is much more stable than previews or alphas the last VS was
alpha/preview, even I wouldent let these near a production env.

Beware of side-by-side installations. A "side-by-side" installation of
Framework 1.1 on a 1.0 production system screwed things up royally.

Microsoft definitely does not recommend installing pre-release bits on
production machines. Although it *should* not mess anything up, the
possibility of problems just isn't worth it, especially considering how the
installation of pre-release software on a machine voids technical support
for that machine.

When i think production machine, I think of my pc, as I produce code, if I
got a problem and I suspected that it was due to installing beta software
then I understand that I have to rebuild from scratch, which I am getting
good at as I have a base build as a ghost image with all my settings ect.

The person from MS was really talking about running in on a dev box.
