NIS Service on Solaris

I wasn't sure where to place this question as it concerns Solaris and C
programming so hope you can help...

I want to discover which NIS server I am bound to in my C program. I
realise ypwhich system call will do this, but I would prefer not to use
ypwhich if possible..

I thought I had this working with yp_master(), supplying it with a
hosts map, but this returns the master server, and NOT the server I am
bound to!!!

So does anyone have any ideas??

Try comp.unix.solaris.

[Follow-ups set.]

Maybe ask in a Solaris or NIS newsgroup? Folks there might know about
system-specific coding like this.
