Passing values with a new window

On the Home form there is an input/text field with and input/button
button. I want to create a new window and pass the value in the input
field. The onClick is inside the input/button tag, but I do not know
how to pass the value in the input/text field.

onClick="MM_openBrWindow('php/search.php','','toolbar=yes,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,785,600')"
