perl or php

hi everyone,

given I have a choice in a new company if we will use mysql together with
either perl or php does anyone have any thoughts which we should go for?

pros of perl: looks cleaner: is closer to unix scripting

any reason to go for php?

any advice would be much appreciated

Were you expecting Perl people to recommend PHP? Or PHP people to recommend
Perl?

You should really assess what your business needs are choose the appropriate
language that way rather than throw troll bait out into newsgroups.

You could also google your way to endless comparisons, as this isn't a new
topic.

Even if I don't have enough experience from both languages to advise
you, I'm quite sure of two things:

1) You need to tell what kind of tasks you are going to accomplish, and

2) You'd better disregard any advise given by people who don't know what
kind of tasks you are going to accomplish.

i read somewhere that PHP was more exploitable than perl....
