I have a web app that converts files. The conversion can take up to 20
minutes depending on the file size and contents.

So, to help the user I want to display an animation (gif/avi/swf) while this
happens. (so that they don't assume it has stopped and go and submit the
file again!)

I have tried all sorts of options but cannot get any animation to play while
IE/NS is waiting for the asp script to process and post back.

anyone got any ideas???

Thanks

Ollie

It's not the page that take 20 mins to generate. It's the file conversion
that takes a long time (it actually averages at 40 seconds but can take 20
mins depends on the file contents).

I already use a bit of Javascript to display a "Please Wait" message. What I
need to do is show some sort of animation so users don't assume it has
stopped working.

Thanks anyway.

If the page is going to take 20 min to generate you got bigger problems....
But anyway, something like this MAY work.
