Recommendations for a C compiler

I'd like to get into C programming, but finding one that installs with the compiler and include paths all setup seems to be difficult for me. I have tried Code Lite, Code Blocks and Pelle C, but either the include files can't be found, or the executables don't get generated (a simple program ie. "Hello world."). I found something that works fine to practice on my android, but I really would like a desktop ide. I have Turbo C++, but I want to stay out of dosbox. What happened to the good ol days when include files were in a directory named Include?
