recommendations for good hosting service?

Hello,

can anyone recommend a good hosting service? have a very large website;
server should be on main data-trunk in North America (west-coast is
optimal). need blazing fast FTP and good control panel, prefer one with
native spam control features.

not looking for 'cheap' necessarily, but 'good'. don't need SSL.

thanks for any input from web designers who use FTP service for
high-priority sites on a daily basis.
