Renaming folders using system("ren ");

Hi to everybody
i have this problem in windows xp when ever i try renaming folders using this command system("ren mo co");

this produces an error message in windows xp
but this works fine in windows 98
i need to know why this problem persisits and are there any ways to renaming folders
