Seems like I haven't seen a post from Richard Heathfield in a long
time. Anyone know if he's OK? I trust he's just on a nice long
European-style holiday (said by one who works in the US).

It is unusual. Do you (or anyone) know what, if anything happened to
Lawrence Kirby? We've been missing him for some time now.

<poor in-joke>
Or maybe his recent MI5 activities kept him from posting.

I remember learning from Lawrence Kirby is the first few months of
my reading of c.l.c. But that's a long time ago now. I don't know
anything about him.

Mark (McIntyre): Are you reading this? Any info on our fellow Brit
C experts?

IIRC when last seen he made some mention of over spam loaded
e-mail, so that appears a useless way of checking. Maybe some of
his cohorts in "C Unleashed" have more direct means of contact?

One of his webpages he used to host is now dead. I hope nothing
bad has happened.

For what it's worth I've only corresponded to him via email.

Looks like RJH must be travelling - his last post I can find was in
comp.programming on the 9th of April when he responded to something from
CJSonnack using a throwaway email addy. Unfortunately I moved away from
where he lives, so I can't easily pop round to annoy his family...
As for Lawrence, I've not heard from him in ages I'm afraid.

Well, it depends on your definition of "bad". :)

Basically, I'm in the middle of reorganising my Internet universe.

For a start, I'm designing and building a new Web site, which is
taking far longer than I'd like, but those with even a modicum of
taste will appreciate that my old site was never really designed; like
Topsy, it just grew.

Secondly, I am no longer using Powernet as my ISP (although I believe
that http://users.powernet.co.uk/eton is still up at the moment). The
site to which you refer, http://www.rjgh.co.uk, is indeed down at
present, although whether it is really dead, or merely pining for the
fjords, has yet to be determined. It may well be that that URL ends up
being the one I use for the new site, but I'm not sure yet.

Since I haven't yet decided on the best way to set up email, I have
been reluctant to post to Usenet. I happen to think that it is my
responsibility to provide in my articles an address where I really can
be contacted, and at present there is no such address (for general
usage, at least) that I check regularly.

Once I've sorted out my new site and email and stuff, no doubt I'll be
back. Until then, enjoy my absence. :)

(My apologies to any topic cops who think, probably rightly, that this
response is OT.)

Urk. Well, at least nothing bad seems to have happened, other than probably
hair-tearing, sore typing fingers and lack of sleep.

Situation normal then... :)

Good to know it's nothing worse than that... I think. We look forward

Glad to hear it. Now we know there is no reason to look for
reports of bus squashings and other anomalies.

Well, that's what Richard claims. We do not know that he isn't secretly
working on the DeathStation Next Generation... and we haven't seen Kaz
around for some time, either, have we? Very, very suspicious...

I have it on excellent authority from comp.programming that he is
being retrained for a new mission by MI5. Shhh.

Hey, you're not supposed to discuss such things in a public forum.
Keep it for the secret IRC channel on Usenet manipulation tactics.

Oops, I shouldn't have mentioned that.

Excellent news. When you get done with yours, can you fix the
rest of the Internet as well? It's showing definite signs of age.
