Hey, us here at the San Diego Ruby Users Group would like to invite everyon=

I'm interested... I suppose I should drop by the hotel first.

If you made a hotel run around 8:40, you could pick me up
and perhaps Bil and others.

Eyeballing the map, the airport is about 4 miles from the hotel,
so I'm guessing they run a shuttle.

Party seems to be 5 miles from hotel or 7 miles from airport.

I'm reachable at: two to the ninth, Alfonso II crowned king of
Asturias, Sealab cartoon minus one.

That doesn't seem quite right to me...

El Cajon is probably more than 5 miles from UTC (which is where Nobel
Drive is located). You're looking at a 15 to 30 minute drive (time of
day makes a big difference). It's probably about the same if you come
up directly from the airport.

I called the Lafayette, They said they have contracts with Cloud 9 and
Express Shuttle for service to the hotel. The drive will need to come
in to the desk and get a voucher for payment.

These are the two main door-to-door shuttle companies (I see) in San
Diego. You can call them to schedule rides, but it generally seems
unnecessary - I've never done it.

Instead, you can just walk out to the transportation Island thingy. In
Terminal One, which is predominantly Southwest Airlines (maybe a few
others), that means using the skybridge to cross the street, and then
turn back toward the airport (re-crossing the street half-way). In
Terminal Two (most airlines OTHER than Southwest), you can just walk out
on ground level to the islands.

Usually there's an attendant there - just tell them where you're going
and what company you'd like to use. They radio some magic guy who makes
your shuttle appear.

I've not used it much. We have a light rail "trolley" that can get you
around downtown, Old Town, and over to "The Q" (Qualcomm Stadium).
There's a commuter train that runs up and down the coast, called
"Coaster", but that won't do you much good getting to El Cajon (which is
East of Balboa Park & Downtown).

My guess is that the Airport <--> El Cajon trip will involve a bus ride.
Personally, I'd stick with the Cloud 9 or Express shuttle (if the hotel
really does pay for it).
