I love blue, but on this case it hurts the eye. The red is better there.

I like the red theme. It's more utilitarian and it cuts right to the
chase, not wasting valuable space on non-essential stuff. I don't like
the blue theme, both because it's hard to read the text against the blue
background and because blue is not a very rubyish theme :)

maybe... too much red. Ok I know ruby is suypposed to be red, but imo
not everything on a web page has got to be red. It is a nice theme,
anyway. Maybe the fontsize of links could be a little bigger.

mh.. visited links are hard to read..

anyway, just my two cents, thanks for any effort :)

Between the two I prefer the red; I'd concur with
others' remarks that it's easier on the eyes.

I wanted to mention that the font sizes on the page
appear to be fixed in a way that prevents my font
size preferences (in IE, View->Text Size->Larger)
from taking effect.

(No matter the font size setting, nothing on the page
changes.) . . . . This has the effect of kind of
cancelling out the "easy on the eyes" aspect, as I
have to squint to read the text. ;) But it looks
nice. :)

Bill

I like the red version. Althugh the blue version is prettier, the red
is easier for me to read.

And I really like the data format in both saying what has been going on
and what people are interested in.

I would go with red, increase a bit the text size and add some images,
but Red definitely.

I prefer the Red one though having a bit more contrast in it might be nice.

Another small issue is that the margins don't seem to make sense
completely -- e.g. in the right sidebar there's more margin between the
heading and the content than between different sections and the content
is sometimes bigger than the headlines.

Something similar applies for the "Latest News" headline -- it does not
look like a headline at all.

Nothing too important, but it's still a bit confusing when you're just
scanning the page.

Why images? Do we inherently need images on web pages? And as for the
text size...I'd say that you have a point, but I think that the CSS
should be very restrictive in dictating font-size. Just leave it at
whatever the user chooses, unless there's a need for a special
font-size.

The red theme is very pretty. The blue, not so much so. I could
definitely live with working with the red theme. There are still some
"off by one"-pixel problems, but it still looks very pretty.

To my eye, the colors are not nearly as important as the contrast. Give
me dark text on a light background any day (red theme). Light text on a
dark background gives me a headache (blue theme).

IMHO a few images, even just a logo add some life and dynamism to the page.

Default size should be good however. The user shouldn't need to
increase character size to read the page :)

The default size on the current site is quite easy to read, the only
problem with the body text is the distracting background image. (Even
Apple is stopping using it in their applications!)

I'm not sold on the tabs yet. The ones of the Blue page are good, if
you could combine that with the readability of the red ones I'd say
you're heading in the right direction.

Do you need the "Latest News" header? If the headers for the
individual news items could be made more header-looking, you wouldn't
need a bit of text to say "these are headers people!"

Could that text at the top of the page be moved into a third, left
hand column or something? If not, I like the idea of putting a visual
"box" around it as in the Blue theme, though the colours would look
better if it was more like the Red theme. Could the right hand column
and the "box" be given the light red background colour, and then make
the main content area white with the larger font sizes for the content
and news item headers?

ah, minimalism :) Now that I think of it, I'd also would like to see

But this are changes in GForge more than in just the css so that may be
a different thing :)

I still think there is too much red (or maybe just to "dark" red) but

Hm, that's a good thought. What ways do you think the headers be
improved? Move the current info around, or add more?
