Schema for Contact information?

Does anyone know if there is an open/standard schema for Address
Book-type contac information (Name, Address, Phone, email, etc.)
Obviously, it'd easy enought oroll my own, but if there's one that's
alreayd commonly in use, I'd like to use it.

There have been various formats produced for vcard representation as
xml but none afaik have been released as a standard, the ones I'm
familiar with do not have xml schemas for them, given that they were
released before XSD got widely used, one of them was furthermore xml
serialized RDF (for no good reason as far as I could tell. )
