SEO and populating metatags dynamically

Will a metatag populated with keywords dynamically from a mysql database
(using php) be readable by web spiders for indexing etc.

Will a metatag populated with keywords dynamically from a mysql database
(using php) be readable by web spiders for indexing etc.

The search engine (client) gets the generated markup, and knows nothing
about what's going on server side.

Wordpress has some meta tag generation plug-ins where they try to
guess the tag, But I do not think anything auto created is ever as
accurate as hand made. Just my opinion. My best pages are plain .html
pages where I took the time to hand do everything.
