show if scripts and/or cookies are enabled

Hi;

1) What is the easiest way to show in an aspx page if they have scripts
enabled?

2) What is the easiest way to show in an aspx page if they have cookies
enabled?

This is for a test page we will have so if they are having problems, we can
have them bring up that page to see if things are configured right.

I'm not really sure that you can show everything that's enabled/disabled by
a user. You can test the capabilities of a browser using a component such as
BrowserHawk (http://www.cyscape.com/Default.aspx?bhcp=1). These sort of
tools have a good database of the expected capabilities of a browser and can
provide you with a good idea of what should work, and they can often test
for certain items (such as cookies) but other items are more difficult, like
testing for client scripts when client scripts are disabled.

Thanks Mark for your informative input.

Hi Dave,

Besides Mark's suggestion, you might also do it yourself if your
requirement is not complicated. You can more information here:

#How do I detect ENABLED cookies / javascript?
http://classicasp.aspfaq.com/general/how-do-i-detect-enabled-cookies/javascr
ipt.html

Above page has some sample script to detect javascript in ASP page; it
should be easy to use it in ASP.NET too. Let me know if you need help on
this, I've tested it on my side and it should work as advertised.

MSDN also has some article talking about checking whether a browser accepts
cookie:

#Basics of Cookies in ASP.NET
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dv_vstechar
t/html/vbtchASPNETCookies101.asp
Look for section "Checking Whether a Browser Accepts Cookies"

Sincerely,
Walter Wang ([email protected], remove 'online.')
