Unable to create the Web (W2003Std + Framework 2.0) remotely

Hi

I replaced a Win 2000 Adv server to the Win 2003 Std with Front Page Server
Extension and .Net Framework 2.0. FPSE is extended to Default Web Site.

Visual Studio 2005: If I create a new web by VS2005 installed on my server,
no problem, but if i try to do same remotely using http, I got
"Unable to create the Web 'http://computer.aaa.com/MySite'.
You are not authorized to perform the current operation."

Visual Studio 2005 (or Front Page 2003) does not popup a login window while
creating the new web as was happened when W2K Adv Server was installed.

NTFS rights of the Default Web Site are as follows:
Aspnet: write
IUSR_xxx: read
ad\myAccount: write
Rest are as default after IIS installation.

I do not have any idea what to try next. :(

IF FPSE, make sure you are on the latest and add your account to FP
administrators. I believe that will solve the issue. FPSE is not a necessity
and I do not have the docs for setting up sites on non-FPSE machines. I have
done it in the past with a beta, but forget the steps.

You can also create the site and deploy to it, developing locally. You will
still have to have permissions, but it is a bit easier than the full site
creation from a remote machine.

BTW, if you cannot tell, I am not very fond of remote development. It
creates more headaches than it solves.

I did create the web site from remote machine (from outside of our domain as
well) without no problems by using VS2005, but not after upgrading our
webserver to W2003Std.

The other issue is, that if the web are created locally by VS2005, that
cannot be opened from a remote pc due to "..not existing.." or "..not
authorized.." errors. It seems to be the remote machine is unable to "see"
the web in the webserver.

Anonumous user is checked but not Windows Intergrated... or Digest....

There is no Win firewall turned on, i am sure the problem is either in FPSE
or IIS. I have to check FPSE part of the problem once again.

Thanks for you help.

Hi

Problem is located (somehow)!! The Share Point Server which was installed
prior FPSE, causes that remote-web creation problem.

I uninstalled SPS (Finnish Language version), uninstalled IIS, even
Framework 2.0 and reinstalling IIS + FPSE + .FW 2.0. I noticed after
reinstallation, that in the FPSE Administration Site: there are not a page
where users can be added or removed. Actually many pages of the Virtual
Server Administration are missing. For example "Site Administration for <<my
website>>".

I took a second PC, made that W2003 Server without SPS. Everything runs
perfect, creating web site remotely by VS2005 as well.

What can I do with my "problem server"? Is there any DLL-files which have
not been replaced while IIS reinstallation and causes problems now. I cannot
clear and reistall the whole server again. Might be some other solution? But
where???
