UnsafeAuthenticatedConnectionSharing and ConnectionGroupName

My understanding is that UnsafeAuthenticatedConnectionSharing=true will
persist the connection used to authenticate a web service request, and the
next web service request for the same ConnectionGroupName will use the same
connection and authentication

Assuming I have understood correctly, how long does the connection and
authentication persist? Do I have any control over the timeout?
