Is there any advantage to upgrading the python distribution
which is part of OpenOffice to 2.3.3?
I notice it is version 2.2.2
Are the bug fixes crucial?

I didnt know that OOo included a Python distro...

Anyway, you'll find the differences between Python 2.2.2 and 2.3.3 on
the Python home :
http://www.python.org

As you'll see, it's much more about language evolution than bugfixes.

I think you will find that the python that comes with OpenOffice is a
non-standard version required to support the Python-UNO bridge. If you
want to automate OpenOffice with Python, it seemst that you need to use the
python binary distributed with OO, and not your standard python binary (if
you have one). However, I have only played with this very briefly, so I
could be wrong.

See http://udk.openoffice.org/python/python-bridge.html for details, or
write to the OO Udk mailling list. (See the end of the above link.)

Cheers,

Rasjid.
