VC++ Compilers

What is the best Visual C++ Editor/Compiler?

Mine, but you can't have it. :)

Best in what sense? Cheapest? Most conforming? Fastest?

There is a free VC++ compiler, I believe, but I forget the link. Check
their web site.

VC++.NET is more standard-conforming than VC++ 6.0.

I have no idea if anyone's selling 6.0 any more or not.

I use both 6.0 and .NET, but that's because I have some third-party software
that requires one, and some that requires the other.

There's probably a features-comparison list on the microsquish site for the
latest versions. You might look there.

(In any case, it's not exactly a C++ language question, is it? :))

Oh, I have an OT question for you sir! I too have both, but never dared to
install them on that same machine. Do you know if that is ok to do?

Thanks.

I would assume it's the one with the largest version number.

Normally, sure. But we're talking about microsquish here, and sometimes
newer versions simply have better bugs! :)

(Sorry, couldn't resist.)

Yep, I have them both installed. Just install the 6.0 version first.

(Further q's re. VC++ should go to a microsoft group, though.)
